Question:
I was about to order the z70v then this happens...
Well, I was about the buy the asus z70v but then I found out that the asus w3v is on sale with the $200 mail in rebate (offers end this 7/15) and it also has a free extended warranty from 2 years to 3.
So know the delima begins....which one should I get. The price of both units is about the same. The graphics card is the same.
The only things to consider now are:
1. Which display is better? Will an image on the WXGA monitor look better or worse than the image on the WSXGA?
2. Which one has a better battery life?

You're not going to tell the difference between image quality on either.... but I'd venture to say the colors are going to be more exact on the glaretype display (which is what I like the glaretype) ..........
Battery life on both units is going to be virtually identical..... both have the same 8 cell battery and configured the same, you're going to get the same battery life as both have the same graphics card.

I've been runnign the W3V on the road for the last month or so, I like it, no let me rephrase that, I LOVE my W3. It still blows me away. I would recomend it to any one interested in the Asus line. Grab that rebate quick thought its over on the 15.

Browsing through the forum and found this thread on the discussion about the display of the W3V.
Now my decision is starting to lean more toward the z70v instead.
Got to do more reading to make up my decision.

You could read through that all night long (and I suggest you do) ........ picking your notebook is up to you, I gave you my opinion on my personal choice and I know what both are capable of...... I've been using a W3 for more than 4 months now...... and the screen that's in the Z70v has been on the W1n for more than a year now... I've used a W1 a lot over the past year and it's screen is by far the BEST 15.4" WSXGA+ matte type display I've ever seen. With that said, your exact question was:
"1. Which display is better? Will an image on the WXGA monitor look better or worse than the image on the WSXGA?"
.... Neither is "better" and I'm sure people can find complaints about everything. But a color shine screen is going to give you the most accurate colors... glare type displays are meant for graphics professionals who require the most accurate color reproduction.... I've used many notebooks and as far as how a picture is going to look, no matter the resolution, these two are going to be very similiar.
Ask Valsmere how he thought the W3's WXGA screen stacked up picture wise against the V6's SXGA+ matte type display. There are little details that bring people from one to another...... but side by side, being as *different* as they are, they both look very similiar.

The best way is actually if I have the chance to see the 2 units side by side. I can read posts until I am blue in the face, or in this case...go blind, but I will not get an accurate information until I see it side by side.
Sometimes the more you read, the more confused you will get.
Still deciding and thinking....

... at least you understand that..... it's obvious. To get an *idea* i'd tell you to look at a matte type 15.4" sxga+ and a 14" wxga at best buy...... it's not going to be exact, but you should get a good idea of how they compare....
