okay, my first notebook is on the truck! its a Z63a
what do i need to know about owning a notebook as a n00b? like: unplug the battery after its done charging. ive bookmarked alot of links from here, mostly the sticky in the "Hardware" forum. what other common sense (and not so common) stuff should i know?!

if you move around a lot, don't put the notebook on a "soft" surface (carpet, blankets, etc) for an extended period of time, that has a way of clogging air vents.
good idea to invest in a few bottles of compressed air. (i get them in bulk, 4 bottles for $10, good enough to last me a year, 6 months if i can't resist the urge to play with them) Once every 2 weeks, spray some into your vents to blow out any dust that may have gotten inside.

Aside from remove extra software, get critical updates and add your own apps, there's not a lot of magic with a new machine. Get the wireless configured and go.

Hey, as for removing the battery when it's charged... Should one worry about a large hole that they now have in the bottom of their machine? Do manufacturers usually offer a "filler" to put in its place?

i use those spray bottles to clean my keyboard as well...very useful. Get a screen wiple cloth and some sort of notebook sleeve for carrying your laptop around in and protecting the case.

Yeah me too, sort of. Except my idiot roommate got high off of them. You know that can just instantly kill you the first time? Jackass...
