Fujitsu S7020d vs. P1 MX

Question:
Fujitsu S7020d vs. P1 MX
I was going to order a 7020d until I talked to one of the guys at P1 who stated that the MX would be a better choice. Besides the added cost what are the bebefits of the MX over the S7020d? I am very concerned about the differences between the two screens. I already have a Fujitsu and I love the CV screen. How about the MX screen? Thanks.

one negative about the MX is the weight. The MX and S7000 are 2 different classes of laptops. The MX has a dedicated graphics card which would be great if you need it, but if you don't it cuts down on battery life.
I really don't see the S7000 and MX as being aimed at the same user group!
Check these 2 reviews of the MX/Asus w3v:

The MX screen (Asus ColorShine screen) is quite good... probably not as good as the Fujitsu CV screen, but pretty close. You couldn't go wrong with either machine, to be honest, but the MX is a very good machine.
I say you toss a coin :p

Thanks Qwester. I am not a game player. I am a college prof. I have a Fujitsu N6010 and love it, but I want something a little smaller. I surf and use the entire MS Office package. Which would you purchase?

Between the S7000 and the MX I would choose the S7000 because it is smaller and lighter, and I think you can get more battery life out of it. And with the MX you are paying more for something that you are not going to use, if the MX came with an interated intel card and hence cost less, then it would have been an excellent option.

if you wanted the w3v without the dedicated gpu then the asus Z63a is exactly that. you can get it for pretty cheap at gearedtoplay.com I like both notebooks so its just a judgement call of what you want.

I agree with qwester. It sounds like you won't really require the use of the x600 card (and seeing as how you already have the N series that comes with an x600, you can always use that should you need top lay games, render something or CAD..)..
apart from the Fujitsu S7020D.. have you looked at it's 13.3 counterpart? it's smaller if you're interested in a smaller form factor..and comes with the option of a Pentium M or Turion model. This site has recently reviewed the Turion model.

I posted a lot of my thoughts on these two in this thread (I have a P1 MX and a Fujitsu S7020, so I was able to make some direct comparisons):

The one addendum I should make is that the wireless perfomance on the S7020D should be superior to that of the S7020 (and so superior to the P1 MX as well).

smaller and lighter isnt always the best option... for a little more weight and size, you get a MX with a metal chasis frame, alloy carbon fiber case, and what appears to be a stronger hinge mechanism.... those are key points in how well a laptop holds up to travel and use....
