Asus Screens

Question:
Asus Screens
Is Asus planning to use a different LCD panel or use hardware updates in order to address recent concerns about screen quality issues? Thanks.

Re: Asus Screens
Some people are going to find issues with just about any screen that they come across. There are some screens that are slightly better or worse than others in the same batch. It doesn't seem to me that it's a big enough issue that Asus would change their screen suppliers.

Re: Asus Screens
I think the Z70V/A screen should go in the LCD Hall of Fame....other than a few incidents of red ghosting and the whole "sparkle conspiracy", Asus seems to have a solid reputation for using quality LCDs.

Re: Asus Screens
Asus mainly are a systemboard maker, probably, they need a manufacturner to make a high quailty LCD panel, but the price will be expensive. We can choose cpu from Intel or AMD, harddrive from Seagate, Western Digital, Toshiba, Hitachi, and memory from Kingston, Samsung, Corsair, KingMax, Infineon....., LCD panel from Samsung, Philip, but Asus use what LCD panel is made by manufacturers, i don't want!!!

Re: Asus Screens
Samsung DOES make high quality LCD panels... the red ghosting on the Z70V/Va panels were an unfortunate batch made from Samsung.
The "sparkle" effect comes from LG LCD panels I believe... but those are cheaper panels anyway to keep the price of the Z71v down; it IS a budget machine after all.

Re: Asus Screens
Right, i don't still know what manufacturers make a high quality LCD panel. Some model from Asus mention us to have a zero dead pixel on their policy, might be it is made by high-end LCD panel, what panel they use, who know??

Re: Asus Screens
If i bought the Z70Va today, does this mean The likely hood of the "red ghost" showing it's ugly head is going to be minimal at best?
BTW, I own a 19" Samsung syncmaster 930B monitor. This thing rocks!!! One of the best purchases i,ve made for my desktop. Samsung has quality, we just need to see how long it lasts. Also, this is my first Samsung!!
One last word...I work in security and we use dell TFT monitors. These things have been ((on)) since i started working @ my location..thats been 6 months and they are still working fine..24/7==for 6 months---not one issue and we have like 12 of these monitors/displays...im impressed!!! When will these babys die???

Re: Asus Screens
You will probably have a 50/50 chance of seeing the red ghosting issue... but if you do see it, it will most likely be minimal.
Most reports of the red ghosting haven't been too severe at all... but now that everyone knows about it, they all try to look for it :p
So even the slightest of red ghosting is reported... but I'm sure it's not as bad as people make it out to be. If it is, I'm sure you'll be able to get a replacement part.
