Question:
Compaq AMD Turion
Hi All!
I am thinking of buying
the Compaq V2410US Model.
Was wondering what opinions you guys might have about it.
Basically, all I need is a laptop to do work on (Word, Excel etc.), listen to music, watch/burn movies. No hardcore gaming.
Battery Life is important to me. And I would like to be able to upgrade it in the future.

It will be just fine for those uses. However, the standard 6 cell battery only gets around 2-2:30 hours. You can get an extended 12 cell battery which gives it twice as much. It does however, lift the back of the notebook a bit, slanting the notebook slightly.

That's a great value computer, however, you didn't give us any info to your budget, how big you like it, etc. If you could fill out the FAQ (link in my signature), then that would be a great help to us, and we could also recommend some other models.

I was thinking about that model too, it seems pretty good for the price. But the V2000 has a Pentium M in it, but I haven't been able to find that in Canada

Best Buy/Future Shop should have various HP/Compaq models in their showroom.
Also Office Depot and Staples does as well

Good model, good choice, for what you need it for I doubt you'll need a whole lot of upgrading but stuff like memory and hard drive can be upgraded. Review:
Visit the HP/Compaq forum to find many people that have this notebook already and much discussion there.

Thank you all so much! My budget is around 1000, so that is why I considered that laptop. And well, having gotten such good feedback, I'm out to buy it :)

Great choice Missionary - that's the best budget notebook on the market.
For the best performance, be sure to get the 5400RPM hard drive. Also, if you upgrade to the 12-cell battery, you'll get 5 hours of battery life.
