anyone have an inspiron 9300 and game "black and white 2"
if so, did u get an error installing the game?..i did , i can't get past installing disk 2...i called ea and the only answer they had for me was its because i have a notebook and i need the newest drivers ..i have all the latest drivers and it still doesn't work...they said they would refund my money but i had to send them the game. and the shipping which was like 8 bucks...screw that..anyway just curious if anyone else had this problem

Go to My Computer, right-click on your CD drive, go to properties, go to the Sonic DLA tab (or something like that), and disable that althogether. I got a similar issue installing Doom 3, it's a bad interaction between the Sonic DLA (whatever that is) that Dell included on your computer and the CD's copy protection.

hmmm...actually i did a clean install with windows and still get the same error...im gonna try and find a new driver for the cd drive...maybe dell has one on their site..its saying its up to date on the windows update site..

stupid ea i dont know what they are talking about. mine works perfectly on my laptop. i have no solution to fix your problem tho sorry. just saying it does work on laptops.

This might not be your problem, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try.
Do a RAM test. Use memtest86(free program just do a search for it). I had problems just like you did installing World of Warcraft. It turns out that a lot of games use some heavy-duty compression that needs your RAM to be absolutely perfect when installing. I never knew my RAM had some corrupt addresses, never showed up in normal use. Anyways, I got new RAM that was pristine and the problem went away.
