Question:
7510GX Upgrading?
Hey my work will be purchasing a gateway 7510GX for me (both buisness and personal use).. im a bit of a gamer (basically only wow and other online rpgs)...
anyone done any upgrades in general, im curious on whats working out there?!
also i noticed the ram is PC2700?? will the mobo handle better ram?
and the cpu is an Athlon mobile 3700 (2.4 ghz i believe) .. can i change it to a Turion MT-40 (2.2 ghz i think).. and will that make a difference in battery life or performance if one can change the cpu @ all on this notebook?
any other suggestions (OS, driver upgrades, etc..) yall can recommend, that would rock!!
Thanks in advance guys : )

Re: 7510GX Upgrading?
I heard the Turion isn't all it is cracked up to be.
I have upgraded one of my ram sticks with this one.
As for drivers go here.
I have a link to my site with all the drivers that have been said to work.
Everything seems to be working fine for me.

Anyone tried upgrading the battery? This battery life makes me sad. Pretty much a waste for flying and watching a full movie.

I think they only make one battery for the 7510.

Although changing the processor to a Turion might not be possible, you can most probably replace the mobile 3700+ with the newly released mobile 4000+(2.6GHz, 1MB L2 cache).

If the performance ceiling on the San Diego core is that high, you can likely just overclock the Athlon 64 in the 7510GX.
Of course...
It's not really worth it for just 200MHz. ;)

Any idea if you actually can swap the 3700+ with the new 4000+ ??

Assuming the chip isn't soldered in, you probably can.
But again: not worth it.

Also assuming that they are the same socket. the 7510gx uses the 754 and Ii think the 4000+ is a 939 unless they made a 754 4000+.............that would be awsome. As for battery life I can get 2:30 out of mine......do you need more then that? and can you expect more from the hardware thats in it? yes its a mobile athlon but its no centrino, or turion for that matter :P just turn down the screen lighting and in the power options properties (in the control panel) just set it to laptop.
Also I have read that the video card is modular so it can be upgraded.....I've yet to venture into opening it up to see for my self but once i do ill post here weather or not it is. I would reall like to put an x800 in it. Then it would really be something to be proud of.
Have fun :D
