I6000 screen when on battery

Question:
I6000 screen when on battery
I purchased a I6000 and when running on battery the screen is very dark. I plug in the power and everything is fine. I understand this happens to save battery, but it gets way too dark in my opinion. Is there any way to adjust this or turn it off? I also have an i9300 and the same thing occurs, it does not get anywhere as dark as the 6000 does.

To answer your question use Dell Quickset in the system tray. Open it up, go through the windows and when you get the option to create a new power scheme, create one that has brightness on maxium or close to maxium during battery power. create that power scheme and that should fix your problem

You can also adjust your brightness levels by using FN+ up/down arrow, but i still think it is best to go through Quickset and just set a new profile.

Thanks for the replies. Has anyone else noticed this on their 6000?

it actually is a common occurence with most of the inspirons. Dell has it automatically configured in their BIOS to change the brightness when on battery. I think the default is set for 75% of full brightness. You can change this if you are comfortable with BIOS settings and set it to full brightness when on battery.

Re: I6000 screen when on battery
The LCD display is the largest user of power in a notebook. Therefore, if you decrease the brightness even by a small bit, it can add several percentage points onto your battery life.
If you want to make the display seem brighter, you can turn down the lighting around you. That way, you can take the brightness lower and effectively increase your battery life without compromises (well, apparant ones anyway ;)).

Re: I6000 screen when on battery
I just recieved my i6000, and after reading this board i was almost kicking myself before I opened the box for not ordering the upgraded screen, but once i powered the unit up, I was suprised at how good the screen actually was. All the complaints about dim or unclear screens seem to be unfounded. Even on 50% brightness, its loads better than my iBook screen, though that may not be saying much...

Re: I6000 screen when on battery
I think that I like my no-glossy screen...it isn't as bright but I just didn't like the reflection you can get off it in certain lighting. I turned up the digital enhancement and it is crisp as can be.
