Dead pixels :(

Question:
Dead pixels :(
I think I have a lot of dead pixels
Theres this interference and i guess tiny square dots from top to bottom for a 2-3 cm diameter. Its like a television screen when there is interference. Am I looking at dead pixels here, or is it something else? Is this normal for Toshiba to have dead pixels? Will taking it to a toshiba depot make stuff even worse (ie: will something else go wrong?) Any comments or opinions would be great!
Thank you

Re: Dead pixels :(
I'd try out Dead Pixel Buddy (search it on google) and test your screen out with that. DPB will give you the best way to evaluate dead pixels.

1 Attachment(s) This is just a portion of my screen. This is the size of the ....blob haha. Is it dead pixels...or something else.? There is more at the bottom, which is not on the picture.

Whoa!! What happened to that screen  ?? Yep, those definately look like dead pixels and definately warrant and exchange. I'd try restarting your computer as well as changing the background/resolution to see if it isn't a software glitch.

Re: Dead pixels :(
I already tried reinstalling Windows (Toshiba tech advice) haha The blob on the pic is just 2-3 cm. It looks really blown up in the pic. The green background is from DPB. Why do like lines keep appearing and disappearing eradically? I though dead pixels were dots.
There are dots, but on top of that there are the lines moving

Re: Dead pixels :(
Hmm...
That's really odd....Dead Pixels usually stay in one place and don't change color or are unactive or dark (hence the word "Dead"). However, as you described them as "moving" and "changing" I would suspect this to be some sort of software anomaly. However as you said you've already re-installed Windows , I really don't know what to tell you. Try flashing the BIOS, and if that doesn't work, I'd first re-install Windows again, then exchange it if it still doesn't work.

I guess I could exaplain it as saying that there are these tiny dots, and then in the front there are these lines that appear and disappear. I tried flashing the bios, but it wouldnt let me because it is already updated

Re: Dead pixels :(
That really confuses me  Try reverting back to the old BIOS version, see if that helps any. If that doesn't work, I'd exhange/return the laptop for another one.

How do I revert?

Re: Dead pixels :(
Go into the Cotrol Pannel - Then click on System - Then click on the Tab "Hardware" - Then Device Manager - Scroll down until you see "System Devices" and open it - Then click on "Microsoft System Management BIOS driver" - Click on the "Driver" tab - Then click on "Roll Back Driver"
Try rolling the driver back first and see if this has any effect. If nothing happens, re-update the driver again and see if anything happens then. If this doesn't work, I think you should take your laptop in for an exchange - something is clearly wrong with it.
