I belive so - the P-M in the V2000 should support dual channel RAM. However, its Turion brother, the V2000Z cannot support dual channel.

No. The Turions do not support dual channel memory. AMD will include dual channel memory support when they release a newer socket next year.

Ah that really blows :/
Oh well... for what I'm doing I guess it doesnt really matter a whole lot then. The good part at least is that I can just buy a single gig stick and not care if slot #2 is filled or not.
Thanks for the heads up guys.

Dual channel is not that big of an advantage. They have their advantages but for the average user it does not give any significant improvements.
If you mix RAM of different speeds, they will run at the same speed as the slower one, so in your case if you mix a 400MHz RAM with a 333MHz RAM. They will run at 333MHz.

lets say i remove all the ddr333 ram and put in a stick of ddr40. will the comp run at 333 or 400?
also will the compaq support it or spit it out?
some systems are more touchy than others. so i would like to know before ordering :P

Re: Does the Compaq v2000 series suport dual channel?
It will run in DDR400 mode (200mhz) if all memory modules are DDR400.
However, if you mix the DDR333 (pc-2700) and DDR400, it will only run in DDR333.

If you have the latest BIOS it should run at 400MHz. RAM can be sometimes be tricky but if you buy from a reputable manufacturer, there should'nt be any major problems.
