Question:
just got my W3V...but..
I figured out the problem...when I ordered from www.actbuy.com, they had advertised the old model with a 60 GB @5400 rpm HD and 512 MB RAM..with mouse and bag. WHAT i got was the new model with 100 GB @4200, 1 GB RAM and no accessories.
I'm upset by this because I ordered additional RAM from newegg...an extra 90 bucks...now I don't need it. Also I would opt for the faster HDD than the bigger, smaller one. Finally, I don't get the mouse or bag...what should I do?

Turn the laptop over on it's back, the battery facing forward, open the top-left compartment, it has about 7 screws in it, once you've lifted the lid off you will see two small metal prong things there, they are seperated the same length as the SO-DIMM stick that you bought. Doesn't matter which side faces up, but point the gold bits towards you and land the stick in at 45 degrees, once it is touching both metal prong things you should be able to slide it down and it will click. Close the lid and there ye go.

No that's just one slot!
The other is located under the keyboard, I don't know how to get to that one.
I only know about the one underneither because I just fit 1GB of RAM there on my W3V two days ago. Luckily my standard 512mb stick was in the hard to reach place.

I'd make the switch between them and then put eh 512mb in the hard-to-reach place, Why? Because if you send it off for repair you only have to remove your stick of RAM from the easy place.

Uh, I think he already has 1 gig of ram and is using both slots because he has the new model. You should contact your reseller and say that you were lied to because you were. Maybe ask for some compensation for the ram that you bought and possibly a new, faster hard drive to replace the one you have. What they did was false advertising and it's a big no no.

I doubt, they'd throw in the extras or even give you the hardware to exchange them. But yea, you got the wrong one and you should just call them up. Since you say you wanted the faster HD and already prepared yourself with another stick. The newer model is a better deal in my opinion, you may want to keep it and return the extra stick. :rolleyes:

The only thing I'd really be upset about (since Newegg should take back the RAM you ordered) is that the older W3V's came with a 2 year warranty, and the new ones only have a 1 year. Warranties are very important with laptops.

Yeah, call them up and have them set it right. If they won't, put a hold on the credit card.
