Question:
Aw Humor
well its 5 am and its geting blue here at 9th floor. I couldn't fall asleep so I decided to play a game, about halfway through my livingroom I saw its glow on the floor and immidiately though to my self "ohh no youre not, youve got an alienware PC built with the gamer in mind." Sadly I have to admit I am not the type of gamer that AW had in mind for this laptop but than again pong could not really exite me as AW expected me to be. Disappointed that my NFS was not to be I decided to pick at AW, same way as they pickpocketed me. So I went to their website and clicked at random (anything there is good material for a comedy show) and arrived at "Buy vs Build"
*Slide 1*
Well I believe this might be slightly misslabeled, top (1-4) should read "Gateway, Dell, IBM, HP...etc"
and bottom... "The alienware experience" -im sure youll find many ironic statements like "wait for ALL comonents to arrive" or how about "if problems arise contat multiple manufacturers (if you have warranty)" -sounds a lot like someone who needs parts and AW wont give them because they dont stock them hA hA ohh you evil schemers you......
*Slide2*shopping
..yeah right...
A) you cannot shop offof alienwares dataspecs, if you tell me that both components are "thrilling and exciting" THAT DOES NOT HELP ME PICK ONE!!! you ned to lookup each part offof ohh wait the site that youd build your computer of hmmm....
B) I can goto FRY's today and outspec any PC AW builds ohh and its local with no shipping ohh and its really good on price ohh and they have customer support that will help me pick parts that are compatible still in less time that it takes for AW to mail you their contract... NEXT!!!
*Slide3*
Ill smack the next person who says quality and AW in same sentence without a NO or NOT... end of subject...
*slide4*
yeah "dramatic style and flare"... uhmm no... its very low on the custom case market... any plexiglass case looks better than the mishapen crookedness of AW that just makes it look odd and not fit anywhere...
when was the last time anyones seen a "generic gray box" on sale??? where??? why??? whode buy one with all the choices???
*slide5*
first to the market... well i guesss we owe a great debt to AW users like myself... while AW uses THE LATEST technology... most companies prefer to look at AWs fry and go "ooooh yeah we gotta fix that before we build ours, thank god for AW saving us so much money in testing this stuff on their clients"... just one problem though, the time advantage is hypothetical since it takes them so long to do anything with that technology that by the time its on sale its old news... but hey its still installed as if they never seen one of those uhmm ehm before..
*slide6*
HAHHAHAHHAHAHHHA "free of charge"... yeah i calculated that my mousepad cost me 50$ for the price i spent on the laptop for what it actually was... free and AW... id respect them more if they actually used "suckers" in that paragraph
*slide7*
well i know a lotta people thatd argue with that point there... dead out of the box is not a strange sentence for AW rep to hear... on the other handi never seen or herd of me n all of my friends getting that problem.. 99.9% of the time if things arent compatible- they wont fit - welcome to newer idiotproof america
*slide8*
alieninspection? wtf? OK HOW MANY PEOPLE ARGUED THAT AFTER THEIR LAPTOP CAME IN BROKE... like if it wouldnt boot windows... thats a sign that inspection is bs... youd notice something like that or DOA tsk tsk tsk... and again, whats there to integrate... i hate xp but itll do everything for you no questions asked...
*slide9*
...and I cant do that why?... whats optimal airflow and how are they better at it... back in my days of physics me used to thunk that a wire did not generate any significant drag... im prepared to retract that opinion as soon as i see someone parachuting using a wire, on second thought dont these wires get warm with use... and bundling them up causes them to get warmer... and the warmer they get the higher the resistance....hmmmm and than hotter again...
*slide10*
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
upgrade? wtf? thatd void my warranty and we all know AW dont have no upgrades!
*slide11*
NO NO NO NO NONO NO! no warranty
*slide12*
define knowledgeable... hush everybody, i know their secret... go into START>HELP>TROUBLESHOOTING thats the source of their "knowledgeabilityiness" and coincidentaly they work just as well
*slide13*
hmm this sounds like a plan, let an even bigger moreon than me go wild on my HD... BRILLIANT!... last ive herd this wasnt even working...
*slide14*
can you spell BS? how would it be impossible to reinstall windows and let it load the drivers.. how mindtarded can you get... pop the pretty silvery circle into the shelf on the metal box and pres the restart buttom... thats it
*slide15*
lol a bunch of people b**ing about how someone messed up all their PC... highly helpful, again AW seems to imply that there better than me at this
*slide16*
hmmm PCTorque... 6month 10 life 9.93, but lets not look at stores above AWs rating oops youre not as high as you were before guess my comment bummed you down :-D
*slide17*
AW IS THE SLOWEST COMPANY I KNOW, there were laptops build in over 3 month waits... by the time they were done they were obsolete... do not educate others over thing you fail at...
*slide18*
again AW assumes i will buy my parts from 70 different stores... i can do all my shoping in one and have a built PC by morning next day
*slide19*
NOPE... shipping is done by weight and goes bout equall and many companies give discounts on shipping in bulk so wrong again OOPSIE
*slide20*
AW and savings..... WTF are retail markups? i herd or markdowns but ups are new to me, whode buy a newly marked up item?
*slide21*
AW forces you to buy their software... actually they just take your money and dont even ask, many manufacturers do similar but than again there cheaper, and if i bought things on my own id definitely buy something better than windows but than again.. O HAIL O POWERFUL GATES...
well that was fun see you next time at AWs greatest hits with my commentaries CYA

Re: Aw Humor
Initially when I was hunting for a Notebook, I was overwhelmed by AW. Such high end specs on paper and yet the thinest and lightest and the evil look. Luckly, yours are others reviews throughout the internet helped and protucted me from not making the same mistake.
I am surprised though that many folks still come here and discuss AW and talk about buying it. Guessing they have a lot of money to burn. You may as well give it to charity and sleep well than let those bas***ds have it. I have never bought an AW, but reading how they treated some folks who bought their system makes my blood boil. Anyway, I am now an extremely happy ThinkPad owner.

Re: Aw Humor
Thumbsup, one of my good (and wiser friends) has a thinkpad and there solid (hese is couple years old and still holds its own), the reason for all these people being so PRO-AW is that there is a site that comes up before this one in the search engine that has moderators who are "benefited" by AW and are cleaning up the dirt on the company 24/7... and their AW forums have like over 10 times the members so people go there and see "OMG these things are wonderful" and then they come here and see that there crap but by that time there set on buying it and they argue just because they want mental peace with themselves by making us look like were id10ts so that they can rationalize spending 4000$+ on something worth 2 or less in actual parts

Re: Aw Humor
Thanks everyone for your opinions. :)
I'm drawing a very taught string around this - I had to close one of the other threads because it got out of hand and uncivilized. Let's not have the same thing happen to this one. I appreciate it.

Re: Aw Humor
lol you cant be racist and err on top of it O:-)... in response to previous thread, no prob chaz welle stick to the actual issues... which at the moment is AW stealing my money...
check this out:
i bought an sdw341 that is DVD+/-RW
it started scratching discs so I had it replaced under warranty
so they sent me an sdw041 that only burns the + which isnt compatible with my DVD players... so I call them up and he says that they wont replace it grrrr
and the warranty states "Alienware will ship products that have the functionality and performance of the products ordered" CAN I GET A LAWYER HERE???
Answer:
Re: Aw Humor
The unfortunate thing, AWVet, is that it's gonna cost you even more lawyer fees than you would eventually squeeze out of AW. Sure, that initial consultation might be free, but you'll have to push pretty hard for even a settlement, I would guess. :-\

Re: Aw Humor
not if you get one of your friends to do it! ;-) the point isn't to merely get even but to get back at the corporation to show it that you cant be taken advantage of... it cost the company much more money to ignore me than it did to just shuttup and do what they promised, and since there such hmm hmms ill be sure for the next 5 or so years to make their lifes living hell for screwing me over on a 4000$ laptop... all they needed to do was replace about 600$ in defective parts (which was still lower than the profid that they have made off me) or just take their junk back and lemme have my money... instead i discouraged tens of serious buyers with my documented experiences with the hard evidence i gathered against AW, their policies, build quality and tech support... again all they had to do was just fix their defective equipment but they decided to make a quick buck... sorry AW but Ill be a nuisance till you fix our super overpriced laptops or go out of business
PS come to think of it majority of my problems came from the screen cracking... while i diagnosed a problem and told them early on about it they decided to simply ignore it and tell me that its normal for the screen to have two pulsating points in the middle... hmm they could have just gotten away with a small shipping charge back than... id10ts
