Question:
Hard Drive Upgrade for S2110!!!
Hi computer-notebook.com fellows,
I own the S2110 and I'm going to order a Hitachi hard drive from newegg.com.
I was planning to order the HITACHI Travelstar 5K100 60GB 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive - OEM, but then noticed that it said ATA-6. All the Fujitsu hard drives have Serial ATA150.
The question is now if he Hitachi hard drive with ATA-6 will work fine with my Fujitsu S2110?
Thanks for helping me out here.

Re: Hard Drive Upgrade for S2110!!!
All the Fujitsu hard drives have Serial ATA150.
I dont think this is true. While some of their newer models have SATA, the S2110 is not...it has an IDE interface for the hard drive.

Re: Hard Drive Upgrade for S2110!!!
S2110 uses a parallel ata drive NOT serial.
Some of the models use serial but NOT all. example S7000, N3510/3, E8000...

So what does that mean...can I use the ATA-6 hard drives?
Thank you

Yes- ATA-6 is UltraATA/100, which will work fine.
SATA is ATA-7. ;)

Antoher one...what is the difference between a Hitachi 7K60 and 7K100, both 60GB models?
Thx

Re: Hard Drive Upgrade for S2110!!!
7k100 is the newer line which was just released. Supposedly the newer line should be a bit faster, but I never saw any benchmarks. And probably runs slightly cooler. Just a matter of advancements in technology, nothing major.
But I guess if the price difference is negligible, it's better to go with new technology! 7K60 has been around for quite a LONG time.

Re: Hard Drive Upgrade for S2110!!!
Thanks for what. But if the technology is better and more actual, why are the 7K100 Hitachi hard drives cheaper than their 7K60 equivalents (newegg.com)?
Answer:
Re: Hard Drive Upgrade for S2110!!!
The older technology costs more becuase they are harder to get...uneducated buyers know that the 7K60 is a good drive, and will end up paying more for it?!
Possibly the same reason why 266mhz ram costs more than 400mhz ram...no one makes the 266 anymore, so it costs more, even though the 400 is completely reverse compatable....people want 266.
