Aw Land Rover Poll

Question:
Aw Land Rover Poll
...Those who watch topgear will know immidiately what this is about, all others please read on...
Land Rovers are great cars but until recently they suffered from some poor worksmanship and some of the parts fell off and such but those old school land rovers are still mostly around today because outside of small issues there built like tanks...
now me on the other hand, I am a happy miata owner and have had it for about 2 years now with no major problems, in fact the first years I HAD NOT A SINGLE ISSUE WITH ANYTHING
UNLIKE
the 766 from AW that had a long series of failures ending with a giant screen failure in less than a year of my ownership
NOW
my car is very well priced and hard to get a better sports car for less, just a very good package with a reliable badge and all... speaking in similies the laptop if it were a car would be about boxter priced and has failed more than a rover would in recordbreaking amount of time... to make things a tad more hilarious my car has plenty of computers of its own and an engine and electric motors and hinges and wheels that turn at hyper fast rates (and not always in the direction youd expect 8-)) but the car had no failures while the laptop, a seemingly tiny chunk of what a car is had experienced so many problems...
THE POLL
IF YOU CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT YOU HAD 100% UPTIME AND 0 PROBLEMS FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP OF YOUR LAPTOP GIVE A SHOUTOUT IN GREEN ELSE POST IN RED (PS this includes the tiniest of details, loosing the rubber feet and technical call from a HD failure to work are all considered a problem)
ALIENWARE 766 3.4Ghz/1Gb ram
AMIGA 500 PLUS... 4 YEARS 0 ISSUES < not a laptop just as an example tho

Hm . . . this doesn't seem to be limited to just Alienwares. I'll just stick this in the hardware forum for now, see how it goes.

Re: Aw Land Rover Poll
What is the purpose of this thread? Well there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR ANY COMPUTER TO FAIL IN UNDER A YEAR... NONE...NONE NONE NONE... statistically a minor percentage should report issues corresponding to failure rates of the components HOWEVER the amount of people should be about 10% and it seems everyone I know had a failure of some sort (I HAD OVER 5!!!)... The company that scores above 50% mark just might have engineers building their stuff while anyone under is just a chop shop aimed at taking as much money upfront as possible

Well, I for one can say that most things go wrong in the first year. Especially if it is a hardware problem. Well on my Dell, a little paint is coming off on the back of the screen, where it gets secured into my bag. That is the only problem so far. (Note: I said so far). ;)

I would say, as far as hardware issues, most systems should have no problems if used correctly. This of course does not include software issues like freezing your computer.
from a pure hardware stand point, there shouldn't be any malfunction; at least 85% of the a brand's systems should function flawlessly (hardware only). I havn't faced any problem whatsoever until recently with my HP. It gave me 2 years of un-interrupted service and I expect the same, if not more from my new ThinkPad.

But from a materials stand point of view, Dells are the worst constructed laptops ever (well, maybe after AW). 2 of my friends who own 600ms have sent their systems to DELL thrice; of which twice was to fix different cracks on the body, I think near the LCD hinge and once to replace the keyboard. beleive it or not, the keyboard developed a bulge in the center!! My roomate's 700m has its paint chipping off and the Heaadphone jack connector broke and came off!!! These are very poorly constructed PCs, but i doubt one will face such consistent issues with an HP, toshiba or even a Sony. IMO

Mine has had no problems at all from a hardware point of view. Has exactly same age as USAFdude02.

Re: Aw Land Rover Poll
Well I cannot judge Dell on that basis. I mean I have heard of people that took back HP's numerous times, but that doesn't make them a bad laptop.
A saying with some truth...have a great product people tell 1 other person...have a bad product and people tell 10 people about it.
All in all, no other problems with my Dell and I run it all the time. The case could be of better quality, and the miniscual light leakage.

Hmmm...forgot to mention only one thing. WiFi light goes off after a few hours....no big deal though. No paint has scratched on mine. I carry it on Dell's backpack all the time.
