Question:
BRIGHTVIEW(1280X800) OR 1680X1050
Which is better?
Is brightview(1280x800) better then 1280x800?
Is the 1680x1050 the best?
Answer:
brightview will be brighter, and have a better picture in bright light, and as for resolution that is more of a personal preference. As always I recommend looking at that for yourself.
Best would be going to a store and seeing how a wxga looks with 1280x800 and 1680x1050. Another way to do it would be to get a 17" montior and set it at 1280x1024 and 1600x1200.

I asked this question on another thread and didn't get any response, but I was wondering what this Brightview was. I checked the HP site and they have no info on this. Can anybody provide any more info?
Thanks,

Answer:
i went to CompUSA and BestBuy and took a look at Brightview. It is the same as sony's XBrite. It is absolutly BEAUTIFUL!!! It is WORTH EVERY PENNY! It makes your monitor look like an LCD with picture of a CRT. You can watch a DVD movie from accross the room and it looks AWESOME. I looked at the 17 inch HP with 1680x1050 at compusa and I was impressed, although I feel that with teh Brightview option it would look much better on WUXGA. I saw a Sony Vaio WUXGA with XBrite and it looked even better with the WUXGA. Basecally that is all I am waiting for now. WUXGA and Brightview from HP.
Answer:
As you know, stock LCD displays for notebooks have microscopic cuts in them to try to cut glare to a minimum. In many cases, this works well, but it does tend to dim the display and the clarity therein.
BrightView, XBrite, and others attempt to sandwich an antiglare layer on top of the LCD to cut down on glare, instead of the tiny cuts. This leads to a very bright, very clear display, but there is generally more glare. It is a tradeoff, but it is not nearly as bad as it used to be.

Reverend,
Thanks for the info. But if this was something that would make their screens better, wouldn't HP post something about this on their site?

Answer:
its better and thats y it is more expensive. if u really want to know, go to the store and check it out. i assure u that you will be amazed. to tell you the truth, i had a hard time looking at the other laptops after seeing the brightview. it makes other laptops feel old and outdated. the brightview allows u to really see the colors.
overseas is called ultra black or something like that. because when u turn off the computer and look at a normal screen, it is dark grey. when u turn off a brightview screen, it is completely black.
Answer:
Well, I've had HP/Compaq systems before. The most recent was the NX7000. I got this last year in the fall. The screen was bright, but I just assumed it was because it had a better backlight. I have also gone to places like Best Buy where the notebooks are placed side-by-side and the HP's do look very nice. My main question is, why don't they advertise it like Sony's X-Bright (or was that X-Black) and Fujitsu's technology (can't remember what it is)?

Answer:
i'm not sure why they don't advertise there specs better, I think their marketing department needs to get fired or retrained or something.
