Dell just doesn't want to sell the E1750

Question:
Dell just doesn't want to sell the E1750
...was on the phone with Dell for an hour after the $650 coupon failed to work for the E1750...the woman (spoke English thank God) but failed to sell me the notebook b/c she thought it was: 1st, the XPS (after i told her it wasn't), then 2nd, b/c it's a new model, and 3rd, her tech person and manager said the "best they could do" was add $150 to the FAKE sale of $300 off they have on the site ($1999)...BLAH
I was a hard ass, trying the best I could, telling them I wasn't going to buy anything from them b/c the coupon CLEARLY states that the $650-off works on all models except XPS...and they said they "had their hands tied" and couldn't give in to giving me the deal..
should I just give in and get the 9300 (with the $650-off) or buy a Sony Vaio at $2500 or what? LOL
THIS IS GETTING FRUSTRATING!!!

I hate to say this, but apparently dell is blocking the coupon for the E1705. Technically it is an Inspiron, but I've tired to use the coupons and so have other users.

OK so do I just buy the 9300...honestly I don't know if I can go another 2-4 months with this computer...in fact, I can't....but i'd hate to get the 9300 and have the e1750 coupons work soon after...

If that code worked on this and got it down to ~1500 I would pull the trigger right now.

Yeah, I just had to help a friend pick out a computer. I was trying to get him the E1750, but since there are no coupons we pulled the trigger on an Acer 8204 instead. Really, it is only $400 more than the E1750, but it comes standard with the 2.0 processor, 2GB ram, 120GB hard drive, bluetooth, the x1600, a built in camera. It's a much better deal, and I like Acer much more than Dell anyway. I'm sure he'll love it, Dell just did an excellent job of losing one sale, that's for sure!!

Re: Dell just doesn't want to sell the E1750
just be persistant and ask to escalate the sale continuously. if they're still being jerks than ask directly for the sales associates name, the name of her manager, and the name of that guy's manager and threaten with with a letter to the better business bereau. Unless Dell specifically states that you can't apply the coupon to preexisting deals or a specific model there's no reason why they shouldn't give you the discount.
Just remember, be firm but also be polite. Don't get beligerant on them or else that just makes it all the more difficult to make a sale in the end.
Oh and one last tip, these work off commission too so just hint that if they give you good service you'll refer them to you friends and purchase again in the future. I did that with my dell purchase and eventually got my way after like 1.5 hours on the phone with them.
