hey everyone. my friend has a compaq presario r3000 and i am wondering is there any software out there that can help control the computer fan? thx.

Nope. If it's one of the AMD-based R3000's your friend could swap in a Mobile-class Athlon 64 CPU (up to 3400+, the BIOS only recognizes the older 130nm cores) and that will cause the fan to turn on at 55C and shut off at 50C. I wrote up my experience doing that on here (somewhere). The minor catch is that you'll have to use rmclock or CrystalCPUID to manage speed and voltage afterwards. If it's an Intel-based R3000 he's out of luck, they NEED the fan to run 24x7.
