i9300...How do you get the screen back on?

Question:
i9300...How do you get the screen back on?
Hi guys:
After the system enters suspend mode or "Display off" & "Hard drive off" after inactivity, how do you get it to turn back on? I tried pressing the power button, but that didn't work, I also tried pressing the the touchpad, but that didn't work either.
EDIT: Is there some driver that I need for this issue? Thanks!

You should just be able to able to hit the power button to get it out of suspension if the hdd is turned off. If it is only the screen, then hitting a key or touchpad would bring it back.
There really isn't a driver for it, since this is an XP issue. Have you updated XP lately?

All updates installed... still same thing... also, will replacing the system fans stop the "buzz" from the system every 5 seconds? Thanks

hmm, that's weird. Have you done a clean install?
As for the system fans, no replacing the fans won't stop it. You can use software to control the fans or flash to the lastest BIOS (think the 9300 is at A9 now) and it will make it where the fans don't turn on as much. In fact, mine hardly come on at all but I have a less powerful system than yours.

Yep, reformatted and removed the Dell partition. (If that's what you mean by clean install). I'm using Quickset and that has the setting where you can chose when stuff turns off based on being plugged in or not plugged in. I can set it to never turn off anything, but when it's on battery mode I obviously would like to use it to conserve power. Now the problem is just getting stuff back on after it turns off.

can you tell me exactly what your Quickset setting is set to? You don't have to label each, I just need the time settings on it.

Now because I didn't want it turning off on when it was plugged in I have all those on NEVER. For battery, it is the following:
After 2 minutes
After 3 minutes
After 2 minutes
Level 3
Enabled
Thanks

k, nothing seems wrong with your settings. What is your "Timeout to hibernation" set at? Also do you have any usb devices plugged in?
I'm kind of mind boggled on this. It should turn on when you press the power button depending on what state it is in. If it is hibernation which seems to be the indication, power button is the only thing that would turn it back on.
If it is in standby mode (left light on right hinge would be flashing), then your play button would wake it up. I just figure that out while experimenting.

Tapping a key brings it back when it enters the black screen with the Windows logo moving around. For some reason nothing "wakes it up" when the whole screen is powered off, and I guess the hard drive too.

hmm, I don't know what else to do.
I set my settings to yours, and it went into standby mode with the screen and hdd turned off. I was able to hit the play button and it came back on. Do you have quickset turned on or off?
