Acer Travelmate 8204 Keyboard tech. help please T_T
hey every1,
i just purchased the 8204, loving it, everything works fine, except for the keyboard. I can not type question marks, slashes, quotation marks, etc. the call come out as بووهـ, and other characters similar to those. I have been trying to figure it out for the whole day, i did my research, nothing came up. I was hoping someone who may know more about this, can help me fix this problem. need to start programming, and cant do it with out the slashes and question marks! thanx in advance!

If you are still using XP it sounds like a "Regional and Language Settings" option. Check that out in the control panel, it might just fix it or at least that's what I'd try.

Make sure the scroll lock is not enabled. Although you wouldn't be getting those weird characters, you'd be getting numbers. Post when you find a solution.

Sounds like a hardware issue more than anything else.
When typing other keystrokes do those characters type as they should? Does the "L" show up as an "L" or something different? If everything types normally, other than the characters you mentioned, then most likely its hardware related.
