Question:
HI,im new...question about the TM8204WLMI
first of all i would like to say hi to everyone.i've been reading this forum for quite a while now, seems like a really nice place :)
Anyways,im considering ordering an acer 8204 laptop.this will be my first notebook and i want it to be top notch,i do music writing, recording etc. my main question is this: on the acer website in their spec comparison sheet, ive noticed that it says, that the ram of this laptop is user expandable to 4 GB using two soDIMM modules (dual-channel support) .what does that mean? im a bit lost here.is there a possibility to install 4GB of ram into that beast later if i need to?..here is the link : http://global.acer.com/products/note..._notebooks.htm
you would have to scroll down a little.
thanks a lot! really looking forward to your help!

The Intel 945 chipset is capable of supporting 4GB of RAM, so there's no reason why this shouldn't be true. However, I don't think 2GB sticks are being manufactured yet...

wynand32 has it spot on. If 2GB sticks of RAM were made for laptops than the 8204 could handle having two of them inside :).
For now however we all must live with a max of 2GB.

Well there's a minimal advantage from 1gb to 2gb, so I would say it'd be a waste to throw all your money into 4gb of RAM for one system.
I too, am living with a max of 2GB, would I go higher? Probably not.
