Question:
Clean Windows and Quickplay install on DV1000...
I have a DV1000 on the way and I want to do a clean install of Windows XP. I want to keep the Quickplay function so I need to make sure I do this right.
I have read that QP resides on a hidden partition. Any suggestions or a link to the procedure I need to take? Thanks.

its not on a hidden partition. you can just reformat the main (largest) partition and leave the small QP partition untouched.

When you do your clean install of windows it does not mess with the partition. Just use your Quickplay install disc and you should be all set. I did this just the other day.

So during setup, reformat the Windows partition. But leave the other partition alone and QP should be fine?
Hopefully, I can add an additional partition or 2 (for mp3's etc.) at the same time.

The manual that comes with your notebook tells you exactly how to do it (which partition to format). It was the first thing I did when I got my DV4000 and it worked great. It's really easy and HP allows you to pick what programs you want reinstalled.
