A question about formatting

Question:
A question about formatting
Last time I got my dell desktop it used to run super fast. After I formatted it ran alot slower than when I now got it.
Does dell 'optimize' their systems before shipping it out?
I've been reading about alot of junk that comes with notebooks(I have a 700m coming in) and am debating weather to do a full format and install XP pro Sp2 on it.

I've been reading about alot of junk that comes with notebooks(I have a 700m coming in) and am debating weather to do a full format and install XP pro Sp2 on it. thats strange i formatted a comp a desktop a month ago that would freeze EVERYTIME after windows began. Works great now for basic useage no probelms at all but just basic useage. ALso yeah formatt it when you get it were having this discussion in another thread in this forum. Dell comes with alot of bloatware.

It should run faster after doing a fresh install. Dell puts a lot of junk on there.

Yes, a format is reccomended especially on Dell Computers. Just doing a add/remove file is way different, it still just leave registry keys behind, and when you do a full reformat, it cleans all of that out.

Seems odd, I wonder if I'm totally missing something .. ..

Is that plugged or unplugged. Perhaps you are on conserve battery now and before you were running at full speed.

Re: A question about formatting
Plugged or not should not make such a big difference anyway. Maybe it's a driver thing or maybe its your Windows CD?

Re: A question about formatting
That's what I was talking about as well.
Even this desktop I'm using (2.4ghz, 512mb RDram) used to run kickass when I just got it, and after I formatted and reinstalled windows the performance dropped alot.
I am afraid it's going to happen with the laptop :(.
