Question:
Just got my i9300, browsing issue.
I apologize if this is not the correct forum. I have never used a laptop with this issue and figure some of you other 9300 users may help.
When browsing with IE most of the web pages look much simplified compared to what I'm used to. Many of the fonts are larger then they should be and sometimes the menu buttons and links overlap one another.
I changed my display's dpi to 96 (normal) and this helped some. It came set at 120 dpi. I also changed my encoding to "Auto" (instead of Unicode). It seems like I've pored over all available options, but nothing stands out to me that can fix this.
Concerning the very spartan looking web pages. I thought maybe there was a power saving feature enabled so not too much graphics or color was displayed. I can't remember if an LCD display's pixels require power to let light through or block it. As it is now it seems to let a lot through, meaning most web pages I visit are overwhelmingly white, little color or excitement.
Please help or tell me the appropriate forum. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded it and installed it. The website said it is only used for when you have your resolution set larger than 96. Mine is at 96 dpi. I ran it anyway and set the scaling to normal. Nothing has changed. Then there is still the weird spartan web pages, and I mean all of them. Like those simple pages you get with your pda? That's what it remends me of. Mabye I'm nuts.
If you right-click the desktop and select NVIDIA Display, then laptop display you get some more options. Under Digital Flat Panel Settings you can choose between: Display adapter scaling, Centered output, and fixed aspect ration scaling. I have tried all three and I don't see any difference there either. I have left it on Display adapter scaling.
Perhaps part of my computer thinks I have 2 monitors going and another part doesn't. I'm really at a loss here.

Alright, here's a good expample. Say I do a Google search. If I choose the cached link it assigns highlight colors to my search terms whenever they come up--normally. On my i9300 they are all bold black. No color! It's like all the menu buttons and links on any web page have had their color disabled. Man, I hope one of you have seen this.

OK, I've installed Mozilla FireFox and web pages look normal!! So there is something screwed up in IE. Wish I knew what. I may post a thread in software to see if anyone knows what. I may stick with FF, but I still want to know what's wrong.

Well, I was in the process of figuring out how to take a screen shot when I thought to call my brother. His questions led me to me to the correct solution and it is now fixed. You can check this and see what I saw for days. Annoying!
Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Accessibility Options
Now go to the Display tab.
I had "Use High Contrast" checked. This makes IE use colors and fonts designed for easy reading. I found the reality quite the opposite.
I'm now checking out FireFox, but am disappointed that my touchpad's forward/backward feature is not working in it. Probably another box to check somewhere! Thanks for all the help everyone.

Glad to hear you got it working. You might check your mouse properties or FF properties. I really can't tell ya since I'm having problems with the latest version of FF (FF 1.5). You might try an older version. This new one was just release and might still have some bugs...not really sure.
