Question:
Does the new W5Ae have built in RF?
I understand that the older W5Ae came with a wireless mouse, and that there was a built in RF generator/detector.
I have the latest model with no mouse or case, and wondered if this one still has the built in RF? I have a number of Logitech mice that have the USB dongle for RF, but it would be great to not have to stuff that thing in a port, ready to break off.

Yep, sure does..... I believe it's part of the wireless utility console... turns on and off with the flip of the wireless on/off switch.

Hmmm... I've installed the newest utility from the Asus site v 1.1.0. It very nicely has the bluetooth and wireless LAN there, but no RF.
I've also installed the latest logitech drivers from the ASUS site, and it keeps telling me to plug in a USB dongle.
Also read through the meager posts and FAQ on the W5ae on the ASUS site, and no real clues there either.
Any other ideas?

It's been a while since I used mine... but I could have sworn it worked with the same flip switch... I mean you could just give asus a quick call, but I'll try to find some time to go and look at mine... RF is built into that unit though... trust me on that.

Re: Does the new W5Ae have built in RF?
I have a new W5AE and it didn't come with an included mouse. I'd like to use the built-in RF receiver but can't figure it out either. I have a Logitech wireless mouse at home, but get the same "Plug in a USB receiver" message with the Logitech software when I try to pair them. Anyone know what model Logitech mouse works with it, and how to set it up? Since Asus stopped including the mouse, I wish they'd tell us which mouse to buy!

That is the exact mouse I have, but I still cannot get the darn thing to work. Two separate bluetooth mice work just fine, however.

This might be a really dumb question - but now I am confused. Don't you HAVE to use the USB dongle thing with this mouse?

Not if the notebook has a built-in RF receiver - that's all the "dongle" really is.

Another dumb Q then, does the Z63A have the RF receiver, or is it IR?
