Question:
6000 and AUTOCAD
IF I configure the 6000 with
M Processor 740 (1.73GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
WSXGA+
1GB Shared DDR2 SDRAM
128MB DDR ATI's MOBILITY™ RADEON X300
Hard Drive 100GB 5400rpmHard Drive
Will I still be good running AUTOCAD?
I have purchased other computors in the past and I find that this laptop decision is the hardest Ive ever made. This forum is the most informing ever and I value the info that I receive from all the knoledgable people here.
Thank you

Re: 6000 and AUTOCAD
I believe that might run AUTOCAD...I am not too familiar with that program, but I know it is kinda high end...with those specs I dont see why not though.

Re: 6000 and AUTOCAD
You shouldn't have any problems running AutoCAD with that setup - but it does depend to some extent on the size and nature of your drawings.
- 3D or 2D?
- on average what is the filesize of your .dwg files?
- do you incorporate a lot of xrefs? blocks?

Re: 6000 and AUTOCAD
I have no problems running AutoCad at all with a 1.4GHz P-M. It's a high end application only in the sense that it costs an arm and a leg. Otherwise don't worry bout your computer's speed. Just make sure to get as much RAM as you can afford.

I agree kingjimmi...you can have the fastest processor in the world and be slow because you don't have enough RAM in your machine.
