9 cell battery results: w7j
My first test of a new fully charged 9 cell battery on my w7j provides nearly 5 hours of use (4:58). P4G battery saving mode, bluetooth off, wi fi on, camera disabled. Screen brightness midway.
Aestheitcs: The battery sticks out the rear of the notebook about 1/2 an inch. It also has a slight wiggle to it even though I locked it in.
Cost $140 plus shipping from Proportable.
Conclusion: five hours of use: its worth it!

I like the W7's design more than the old S5 where the system was designed for a 3 cell to sit flush and obviously because there were motherboard restrictions as well....... and the 9 cell was 6600mAh.. and stuck out 1.5"........ I'd love to see more life out of the 7800mAh battery, but without getting rid of the graphics card, that would be impossible........ If we could ditch that, this battery could get us 7 hours.
I wouldn't worry about the wobble... although I know what you're talking about and it's not much.... I've seen sony laptops whose extended battery woobles 3 times that and is still "normal"...... What's nice about all of the designs of the Asus systems with extended batteries is that not only do that clip into the front of the hole... but they're supported on the sides well....... and if the systems could support the 9 cell when it was only in the system 3/4" and stuck out 1.5"....... then it can certainly handle it when 1" is in the system and 1/2" is sticking out.

YOu know what's really odd though? Some of those Dell laptops with like the X1400 and 9 cells get about 6hrs battery life at the same settings as an ASUS... And the 7400 and X1400 use roughly the same power..
I just dont understand why they can squeeze out one more hour.. On bigger screens (Eg the E1505)

That battery life on the W7J with the 9-cell is not impressive, to be honest....

Flying cross country or to Europe in coach, an AC adapter is not an option. I'll take 2 x 9 cell batteries to get the job done.

At the moment you can't even take your notebook with you as carry on. For good reason of course but it still sucks.

thats exactly the question i had when i saw all those reports on tv
what do we do about our notebooks when we get on the plane ?
i, for one would not want to put a 2k notebook in the luggage... so does any one have hands on experience with this ? do they make u put it into the checked in luggage ???
