Question:
dv6000
What are your guys' thoughts on the dv6000. Im interested in it because
1. looks nice
2. not as common as the e1505 (for a college student)
3. very nifty webcam <-- main reason
However i have a few grudges.
1. 5400 rpm hd
2. geforce 7200 only
3. 6 cell battery is weak (i dont like the 12)
Thats about it. Also one thing im wondering is how are the amd turionx2? ive always been told to trust intel notebooks over amd ones. Oh ya before i forget. I am a college student. I plan to go online, surf the net, watch movies, go on aim, type on word and play games from time to time. Games I want to play are half life 2, wow, and fear.
So what are your thoughts on this laptop, will there be an intel processor available anytime soon and will It satisfy my needs? really the only reason why i want it though is cause of the nifty camera, in college a good way to keep in touch with old buddies is to use web cams.

Re: dv6000
The 12 cell battery is actually quite nice it tilts to keyboard so ti seems like a desktop keyboard, I'd think of it as a nice feature rather than a con.
I would look at the dv8000t if you can afford it, its really nice and would fix more of your cons.
If the 6000 is the limit of your bduget, AMD isnt as good as Intel but its not persay largely behind either, it wont be the best of the best but it wont be bad either.

Re: dv6000
The Turion X2 should handle those quite. It is as powerful as an equivalent clocked Core Duo. Battery should be a little bit less, but IMO nothing substantial. For your usage, the dv6000 should handle most of it other than some serious gaming. The 7200 is still a low end GPU, most games being GPU dependant you will be held back if you want to play most games at max detail.

Re: dv6000
I've been researching laptops for the past two months, first I was looking at the Sony's because I thought they looked the best. Then i went to my local best buy and this HP caught my eye, the sonys arent as pretty in person as they look on SonyStyle.com. so in the end I decided to get the HP6000, this laptop is gorgeous, powerful, and packed with lots of cool features such as the integrated web cam, the lightscribe burner, and the touch buttons. I did my research on the processors and some even favor Turion over the Core Duo. so far i haven’t had the chance to test the power of this thing, but I'm sure its just as good, if not better. The only Con I found about the HP6000 is the heat issue which you might have already heard about, touch pad and palm rest are very warm most of the time.
Good luck with whatever you decide to go for
