Re: Archicad on MacBook 13"
I could not find any minimum requirements on their site. If it is 3-d modeling, it might be pushing the limit of the MacBook, or MBP for that matter. Programs like these usually run best with a workstation card. I would try to find people who are using that program and get a feel for what they are running it on.

I like the MB because it's a 13".

Yeah small screen size is great for travel, but its the form factor and how thin the MB/MBP line is what makes it worth the money.

I'm not architect but I actually run Mechanical Desktop 2006 and well, it runs. I don't do any heavy work, its just an introduction subject.

You should really look at the MBP, the ATI X1600 in it offers full OpenGL 1.5 support and the 3d rendering and navigation in Archicad will be better as a result. Intel GMA950 graphics would not be ideally suited for it.............. you'd be taking a serious performance hit, and if you are goign to be doing serious work with it, a MBP would make a lot more sense.
If the issue is just size..... honestly, putting a MB and a MBP together and comparing the size, the MBP isn't really that much larger than a MB.

I also agree that if you are going to be doing serious 3-d modeling, you will want dedicated graphics. The GMA is not gonna hold up under that pressure.

thanks so i'm looking for the MBP 15", but which one (2 or 2.16, 128 or 256 Graphic ram)?

You should probably be fine with the 2.0GHz one with 128MB VRAM. The only reason I can see why you might want the higher-end one would be for a better possible resale value.
