Are you happy with your Dv2000

Question:
Are you happy with your Dv2000
simple question, planning to buy it myself.

Re: Are you happy with your Dv2000
I sent back my dv2000t. Reasons:
1. The glossy screen was impractical.
2. The trackpad was very bad.
3. The extended battery is awkward.
4. It wasn't exactly lightweight for its screen size.
5. The build quality is fine, but nothing special.
It's a fine consumer-grade laptop (although #2 and #3 above made me wonder if I wouldn't have been better off even with a Dell e1405). But anyway, it wasn't what I needed for academic work. So I bought a ThinkPad.
Your results may differ.

My dv2000t has exeeded my expectations. Although the lid is VERY fingerprint-friendly, a quick wipe now and then fixes this problem. The touchpad is really not that bad, you get used to it quickly.

I'm very satisfied with my dv2000t. I think it's a much nicer laptop then what you will get with the E1405. The trackpad is a little touchy so it takes getting used to but most people get a mouse to use a long with their laptop anyways, or at least i do, so i don't use the trackpad all that much. There is a button to switch the trackpad on and off at the top of it. I havn't seen very many laptops that look better then the dv2000t do. The Dell Inspiron line are pretty plane and i don't like the white trim much. You don't have to get the 12 cell extended battery if you don't want to. The 6 cell will keep you running a good 2.5 hours or so which is long enough for most. It's also plenty light for portability.

Have to say I'm very pleased with mine. I had a Satellite M105 before but bought this for the duo core, remote and cam. Everything about the DV2000t is just better! It has looks that rivals many Vaios. Build Quality is superb (much better than M105). The screen (QDS) is again much better than the Tosh - infact (minus the stupid gloss type coat) could be the best screen I have ever seen. A keyboard that isn't far off the coveted Thinkpad. To top off it is pretty **** cheap too :D
As for the touchpad, ok so it may not be what I was used to but have to say after using it for a few mins, it operates the same way as standard (textured) touchpads. The buttons I actualy prefer though, none of that stupid 'CLIK!' much much quieter.

I do prefer the HP keyboard though, and the overall shape and layout. I'm not a fan of the DV2000 glossy look and feel. I preferred the more textured look/feel of the DV1000, particularly the palm rest area, trackpad, and screen border. I think HP favored form over function when they chose all those glossy surfaces.

I personally don't own a dv2000, but I considered it a good amount. However, I opted to buy the Compaq version: the V3000. I'm not sure if it's both notebooks are the exact same aside from the design, but my V3000 has been excellent. It's light enough for me to lift with one hand. It's just been awesome. :)
