Question:
8600's 2.0ghz now cheaper...???
the PM 755 2.0 ghz is now cheaper... it used to be +$500 for the upgrade... now its +$350... it's still +$45 for the 1.6ghz...
what do u guys think??? is is worth it now or its still too expensive???
Answer:
Probably not worth it. This is especially true since you won't be running any extra special games with a mere 128mb of Radeon 9600 power. You'll probably kill your gpu long before tapping into the 755's reserves of computing power. Also, when Dell has one of their "deals," the pricing is sure to jump, as it usually does. I got the 1.6 and never looked back (I have a P-4 w/ a radeon 9800pro for gaming, but even that graphics card is starting to lose its lustre). Save yourself the money on the cpu and buy a gig of aftermarket ram...that will yield some noticeable improvements in performance.
Answer:
fyi, the reason this upgrade is cheaper is due to the fact Intel released a 2.1GHz chip and dropped the prices on the 2.0GHz chip.
Answer:
2.1GHz doesn't attract me when I have all the equpiment listed in my updated signature, the speed of a T1 ethernet connection is what takes the cake not a 1GHz more Notebook.
I listed my connection speed because I did a bit of bargaining, I set a full list and helped a DSL line to business office installer. I am quite knowledgeable in Home Theatre and this guy wanted my knowledge to make up a list and in my wheelchair intall it. After the PQ installation and ISF tpe of calibration his new HDTV, tweaked speakers with the correct timbre(Not a typo) etc. he did a hack to my DSL line to be able to receive a T1 connection, you have to have a 10/100/1000 ethernet card installed in your note book, a 10/100 card installed by Dell is not enough.
He was surprized that I knew all of what had to be installed both in Home Theater and to get a terribly high speed T1 connection. He is happy with his new custom Home Theater and I am happly to be paying the same amount of money DSL costs only I am running a T1 ethernet connection to my Inspiron 8600 notebook, so you can see I don't need to upgrade to 2.1 when I have what I have.
BTW Timbre is a professional term for matching sounds of speaker, timber is what you yell when felling a tree. To tweak speakers is done by using pink and white noise generators going from regular sound to full blast using a double equalizer, the idea is to get positive thinking that no matter how high you or your guests want, you/they can get it without blowing out your speakers, just getting you disturbing the peace fines if within the city. His system includes 2 powered Sub-Woofers @500 watts each PQ Pioeer speakers for the T-Rex foot pounding sound and mid range and ribbon tweeter for high pitch Velocity Rapter sound [:)]
