8204 - Lag in typing, sluggish mouse movements?

Question:
8204 - Lag in typing, sluggish mouse movements?
Hi all,
I've noticed that my 8204 does (from time to time) get a little sluggish. There is a delay when I type and the mouse pointer tends to be jerky. I'm not sure why but suspect that it may have something to do with Gravisense.
Has anyone encountered the same problem? It doesn't happen often so isn't too much of a bother.
Also, is Gravisense really useful? If not, I'll just uninstall it.
Tx all,
T'spaz

Ahh, that's good to know. At least I'm not the only one with this issue. Anyone else?

The problem can come from an antivirus doing a check on a particular (large) file or you may just have too many applications loaded (at startup). If your problem occurs randomly the the above 2 scenarios are most probable. Adding more RAM may solve the matter.
If you are having trouble using only a certain application, then you may have to re-install that particular problem. Would also reccomend doing a Disk Cleanup and a Defragmentation of your drive.

funny u say that but im mystified as to why it does it because ive slimmed down the start up processes from a fresh install of 73 to 42!!!! defragged the startup partition. played with bootvis, always use diskeeper 10 on screensaver 'comprehensive' defrag and when noticing it no scans are running and no strenuous programs are in operation and if 2gb aint enough on a laptop in normal using conditions i dunno what gives?! i know this may not be acers fault on this occasion but ive had not stop gripes with this laptop, the main one being the screen which acer claim theres nothing wrong with, i swear a laptop from the 80s is brighter and hasnt got backlight leakage this bad. lol

how much space do you have left on your hard drives? Also, what programs are you running when this happens?

Re: 8204 - Lag in typing, sluggish mouse movements?
IIRC, there was a Thunderbird window open, a Firefox window open (with 2 or 3 tabs), Star Office and perhaps Windows Explorer. Hmmm... I don't think it's anything fancy.
I've got lotsa space on my HDD, about 50% or so unused.
I wonder whether it has anything to do with my wireless Logitech mouse? Why? Don't know - just a stab in the dark.
The good thing is that it doesn't happen too often and when it does, it usually goes away within 20-30 seconds. It's just frustrating.

I have a ferrari 4005, which should be less powerfull than your machine and I'm not having that problem. Since you think it's your mouse, have you tried removing the mouse when it lags to see if the lagging stops?

Press Ctrl Alt Del to get the task manager and shutdown the ATI hotkey controler (It should start with A Forgot the name sorry) It causes Slowdowns and jerky mouse, video game playing. Or just uninstall ATI drivers and Catylisy control center and Install Omega Drivers.

I'm already on Omega Drivers and have since switched to my Razer D'back. So far, it's ok. Will see if I experience any probs. Tx for the feedback thusfar :)
