Graphics card for DVDs

Question:
Graphics card for DVDs
I'm looking at the E1705 laptop. I will be using it for web browsing, school work, and watching DVDs with maybe a little gaming. How much does the graphics card affect watching movies? I'm trying to decide between the X1400 and 7900GS. Thanks!

Re: Graphics card for DVDs
the graphics card has very little to do with movies. the cpu does most of the # crunching for 2d. 3d is where the gpu comes into play.
this is why almost every "media" friendly notebook has an integrated gpu and not the highest-end card

Re: Graphics card for DVDs
ati gets a slight nod in overall visual quality in my opinion, and as for video playback, it is subpar on my desktop with a 7900gt, and I've tried everything to improve it, on my notebooks x1300, its always been flawless
