Dell 1705 Lagging after 3 months of use.

Question:
Dell 1705 Lagging after 3 months of use.
I have the E1705 with the following specs
2.0ghz
80gb 5400rpm
1gb ram
ATI x1400 w/ Omega Driver
After 2 and a half month of using it, i started to notice lagging problem , notice easily by the mouse pointer lagg when i close or open some certain type of program. The most common lag happend when i quit the MSN chat, or Y!M chat messenger. Sometimes it lags when i tried to access to my folder files with 100+ pictures, or after click the "Folder" button to go to explorer mode.
I reinstalled the windows and have the same problem. I dont like this laggin issue much. Although the CPU works great when convert movies.
I'm sure my computer is completely clean of virus and spyware. I also turn off all the Effects of the appearance ( shadows, slide , fade effect ). I did the tutorial of some one on this forum to optimize the performance by turn off start up programs, use REgscrub to clean up registry.
The problem of my blue screen happends every 3 or 4 months of use, until now it happends 5 times already. Everytime it happends, it shows up the same thing. Dell can't do anything to help. I've read Dell's forum (dell.com) and some people there said that's because of the bluetooth , i removed mine and the blue screen still happends. I often leave my computer on 24/7 is this might be the cause of blue screen?
Is this problem due to hardware or software? I dont feel like call dell for support..
This is the first time it happends

This is the 3rd, 4th , 5th, they all looks the same screen.

What kind of firewall/antivirus are you using? How many processess/CPU are you using in the task manager? Your specs are high enough where you shouldn't be maxing out your CPU, but it never hurts to check.
For the BSOD, there are a few possibilities. First, it might be the memory since parity errors are usually related to that. If you haven't already, I would suggest to run memtest and see if you get any errors. We had another thread about the E1505 having the same issue, and some users suggested that it might be the video card failing or possibly the ATI driver.

have you tried defragmenting your hard drive? do you notice that your HD activity light on the laptop stays on solid during such lags?
As to the blue screens I beleive that may be RAM related. I don't think it's the video card, because I beleive that video card error will talk about "VRAM parity error", but you never know...
Memtest will definitely tell you if one of your RAM stick is bad.

Re: Dell 1705 Lagging after 3 months of use.
it would be nice to know what you've done to the system:
1. are you running hacked drivers?
2. are you under/overclocking?
3. are you undervolting?
4. any intrusive 3rd party apps?
5. do you game heavily?
6. what are your avg operating temps for the cpu, gpu, hd, ram?
7. do you have aftermarket ram?

this is probably a memory (ram) problem. see if you can borrow a stick and try it out.

Re: Dell 1705 Lagging after 3 months of use.
1st - my CPU only run normally about 50 processes, it's always at 10% or so if i do light task.
2nd - i did defrag my hard drive.. You guys just reminded me, when i tried the disk check errors and i chose the check errors before windows starts, it says that "cannot open volume for direct access" then it skips the check.
3rd - before i use the ATI original driver, blue screen problem still happends, i dont' over clock or under clock my system.
Which program do you use to measure the heat of your hdd, ram, cpu?
btw, i run cpu -z and i found out that my ram are made by Huyndai, not from Crossair, or kingston. Dell put cheap RAM in my system.
How long does it take for the memtest, bc last time it took me more than 4 hours and i just gave up the testing.
thanks for the reply.

for all temps (cpu, gpu, mem, hdd), the best is i8kfanGUI

also allows u to control both ur cpu and ur gpu fan

My notebook used to do somthing like this too - try updating the BIOS through Dell's site and that should hopefully fix the problem. Be sure to make a restore point in system restore just in case anything should happen during the BIOS flash.
I'd also check your RAM out in some stress tests and see if that's the problem too.

From your error message, it seems to be a faulty device driver.
