Question:
Help! My MBP just started doing something weird...
It is randomly accessing the superdrive for no reason. Repeatedly, at times. Like it just did it 5 times. When I say "accessing" I mean it's making the noise that it makes when you load or eject a CD.
I only have Mail and Firefox open. There is nothing out of the ordinary going on.
I have rebooted. The trash can is empty.
I *did* make a couple data cd's yesterday - I created a burn folder on the desktop to do this. When I was done with the burn folder I got rid of it.
The disk drive thing just started in the last hour.
Anyone have any ideas?
Yes I did a software update.

If it keeps doing it, try resetting NVRAM: Hold down Command (Apple) + Option (Alt) + P + R right after turning it on, release when you hear the chime a second time. See if that makes a difference.

Try doing the maintenance steps in the sticky.
Remember, its recommended that you run something like updatewasher or something after a software update, this will check your permissions and such to make sure the update didn't do anything bad.
UpdateWasher can be found on Apples site.

Resetting the ram worked for me.
I will read through the maintenance steps and start following some of them as well.
Thanks for your help, folks!
