Question:
DELL 9200 XGA+ or UXGA
17" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen XGA+ Display
17" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display +$100
witch display should i go for?
Answer:
Do they not have an SXGA option? UXGA gives painfully small text and XGA is just too big in my opinion. SXGA is perfect, but between these options I'd probably go with XGA for better readability. This is totally personal preference though, that's not really a recommendation.
Answer:
I too am making my decision today about the 9200 and screen res.
I understood that with a UXGA display, you could still configure it with larger text, icons, etc.... is this true? Can I not set the screen resolution to something other than the default UXGA?
Answer:
it's only XGA+ 1440x900
or UXGA 1920x1200
xga+ is about the equivalent of 1280x1024 on a 17inch monitor.
I don't know how tiny the icons would be on the uxga even with changing the icon size.
i keep changing my mind about what i want... 9200 8600 700m ??
waiting for the best deal in canada
give me an offer I can't refuse [:D]
Ethernet (Toronto Canada?) try this link... with the $150 off coupon, *usually* a better deal than what you would get on the main dell.ca site.

got this from couponmountain.ca
this deal doesn't offer the 7200rpm 60gig but I guess you could phone them and tell them you want it with the same deal?
I dunno
Answer:
Thanks pepsiblue: I checked out the link. Unfortunately, after I finished customizing my system, it was more expensive with the above link. Thanks anyways.
I ordered it today with 2GHz, ATI9700 128mb, UXGA display, 60GB 7200, etc. etc.
Can't wait to get it.

Hello there. Cool message board! Anywho, just wanted to ask to see when you are going to be getting your Dell 9200? I ordered mine on 11-03-04, and it isn't going to be sent out till Dec. 3. Also does anybody know of anywhere where they might have better pictures of this, or a 360 tour thingy, or an owners manual or something? I don't think Dell has any of this yet? You would think if they are trying to sell these, they would have something for people to look at...Well anywho, if anybody would like to write me, my email is webgod@aol.com. Thanks!
Dell 9200
uxga 17"
60 GB 7200 RPM
DVD 8x/Cd 16X burner
128 Radeon mobile 9700
1GB ram
Black quicksnap cover
Answer:
I'll be going with UXGA just because I want options. I love high resolutions so I'm confident that I will love the UXGA screen.
As for those who don't like the super high resolutions: You can always change the screen resolution or change the font size in windows.
If you're unsure and have the money I'd just go with the UXGA screen. If you're not sure and are short on money then go with the XGA+...simple as that.

Have: NEC Versa 6230 w/Broken LCD Backlight (LCD still works just can't see anything easily)
Interested in: Inspiron 9200
Answer:
I'm just a casual gamer and -- other than that -- mainly use my computer for word processing and internet functions.
I'll probably forego the UXGA... I can either use that money to upgrade to a 1.8 Ghz or just save it to buy some more memory later on.
Answer:
LCD's have a native resolution. You can change the resolution and/or the default font size but it looks like crap. Just thought you might want to know before you find out the hard way like I did. I also totally agree about the UXGA being uncomfortable to read (@ least on a 15" LCD) and that SXGA is the way to go. Hope this helps. [:)]
Answer:
btw, a wide-screen 16:9 17" is actually shorter than a regular 4:3 15" screen. Check out the following url for an explanation.
