Question:
E1505: If you had to choose between...
I'm ready to order a E1505. I have a strict budget that I have to stick to. I do photoshop and video editing work and play some games. I am getting the ATI x1400 no matter what. If you were me and could only have one of these options, which of the following would you choose and why?
Core2Duo T7200 4MB cache with the XGA (1280x800) TrueLife LCD
or
Core2Duo T5500 2MB cache with the SXGA+ (1680x1050) TrueLife LCD
I can do either the faster CPU or better LCD, but not both.

Re: E1505: If you had to choose between...
If you need the screen realestate than go for option 2.
I any event I would go for option 2.
Actually what I really would do is save some more money and wait to get both, but in your case option 2 is probably the better bet.
are you using coupons?

Re: E1505: If you had to choose between...
i would get the better processor and lesser screen.
reason why?
while working, i find that although my screen (1680x1050) is beautiful, it is somewhat hard on the eyes. I dont find the amount of screen real estate to be too little to work with on the lesser screen ( which my friend has ) either.

Re: E1505: If you had to choose between...
tough call
photoshop and video editing i would prefer the higher res screen, definitely
however, faster cpu will help with render times; but if you aren't rendering 2+ hr movies, it wont be that big a deal.
you should go see some LCDs in person to see if you like higher res screens, but if you're using photoshop, it's almost a must because your workspace is waaaay too tiny with all the toolbars on screen.

I'd go option 2, under most circustances your not going to notice much difference between the cpus, with the screen, you'll notice every time you look at it

Re: E1505: If you had to choose between...
I would go option 1
I got the XGA screen and I love it.
I dont need any fake/semi HD crap.
Also take into consideration if youre going to be playing any games that the video card would have to work much harder with the higher resolution. I was im the same situation as you. I took the CPU. No Regrets.

Re: E1505: If you had to choose between...
Probably the audigy soundblaster package.
I have the x1400 and a wxga truelife screen, I like the resolution, but I also don't do alot of video editing. It's the right resolution for me, but everyone seems to think that the wsxga is brighter, has better viewing angles and is just over-all a nice screen.
In all honesty, you probably will never notice the difference between processors. Maybe a few 10ths of a second here and there.

Get both.. neither are easily remedied by any future upgrades.

Re: E1505: If you had to choose between...
I'm wondering the same thing drumfu...
I personally would choose B as I perfer a higher res on a 15.4 size screen. Enough ram and a decent harddrive (maybe a in the form of a future upgrade) would make up the cpu and with what I'd do with it, a slightly faster CPU wouldn't make much difference. Ultimately this is subjective and it all comes down to what your going to do with it. What's best for me may not be for you.
Before you make a decision on the screen. I recommend a trip to Bestbuy, CircuitCity, or Stables (something along those lines...) to see some WXGA glossy screen sin person. As well as a stop buy a Dell Direct Kiosk at your local mall where you can see the WSXGA+ trulife in person on the E1505. Typically the one on display will feature that screen. I find it wiser to make a decision only after seeing what my options in person.
