Re: E1705 9 cell battery life
I get about 2.5 hours. Maybe a little more depending on the settings and what is on. I also have a pretty heavy load most of the time. It drops to around 2 if I have everything on and screen to almost total brightness.

Thanks for the reply. That's quite a bit better than I expected for a 17 inch notebook.

Re: E1705 9 cell battery life
I have not been dissapointed compared to my old notebook. There was actaully supposed to be more time but there is some issue with microsoft and intel. It may be getting better is all I am trying to say. I have been pleased with the time except I have to be gone for a while from AC. I think I have solved the problem with another (maybe) battery but also with a a car charger. I do not think at this point you will have any problems.

Indeed it is around 2.5hrs if you configure E1705 with GeForce 7900GS. It is closer to 4hrs with X1400

Re: E1705 9 cell battery life
Using CPU RightMark (to lower voltages on my T7400 Merom ES and run performance on demand setting) I get about 3-3.25 hours of battery life with normal usage (wireless, email, word, mabe a cd burn or 2) on a 9cell battery with a 7900gs (also set to run on PowerMizer when on battery).
So, this system works quite well for me as a portable (but I do have a spare ac adapter just in case)
D.

I get about 3 hours too, but mine's just a Core Duo. That's with mostly internet and email, with 7900GS set to PowerMizer on battery.

Re: E1705 9 cell battery life
Wow, this is not the amount of time I was expecting. I was going to go with the E1505 just because of the battery life, but it sounds like I'll get plenty of life with the E1705. My sister has a Toshiba P105 and she's lucky to get 2.5 hours out of it. She barely gets two. Also, does anyone happen to know why the E1705 only has the Dell N Draft wireless card as the only wireless option? I'd prefer the Intel Pro Wireless instead.

About 3 hrs - I shut down most of the non-essential processes that's running leaving the screen at 1/3-1/2 brightness setting, web surfing and a few pdf open and mcafee av running in the background as well.

I have the E1505 with the X1300 video card and I have gotten up to 5 hours with Wifi on, IE and Word open. That sucks you guys only get 2-3 hours.
