Help! dv9000 won't power up!

Question:
Help! dv9000 won't power up!
I've had my dv9000z for 3 weeks now and have been using it daily with no problems. I used it last night and shut the lid (so it should have been in hibernate mode).
This morning when I opened it and hit the power button... NOTHING
I thought maybe I let the battery get too low last night so I plugged in the AC adapter but it still wouldn't turn on and the indicator light (for AC) isn't lighting up either.
Now it's been charging for over an hour and still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas?
I bought it through Costco so returning it isn't a problem but I already transferred all my files onto it and I really don't want to have to return it.
Thanks in advance, Tami

ewww, the power light thing doesn't sound good.
Try the brute force resets.
1. Hold down the power button for > 10 seconds.
if that doesn't do anything then:
2. Unplug the ac and remove the battery, wait then reinstall them.
If those do nothing you probably have either a bad laptop or bad ac unit. Check the AC brick with a meter to be sure. My 9000t brick doesn't have a power light so I'm assuming your's doesn't either (and I wouldn't trust that anyway at this point).
Hope this helps,
Zany

Re: Help! dv9000 won't power up!
I just experienced this problem last night. I've had my dv9000 series (dv9033cl) for about a week now and went to power it up this morning. Nothing. I powered it down normally last night. There was still at least half a battery left.
Anyways, I plugged it in and I did in fact have the blue glow around the AC outlet. Still nothing though. I pulled the battery out (blew on the connectors, this is more from habit than anything else though, there was no dust) and put it it back.
Flipped it back over and it started up normally.
I to purchased from Costco so if this happens again I'll be taking it back. Wasn't too bad this time, but if I had all my work in it I would have been freaking.

Search the forum: there is a fix for this issue. Are you using the latest BIOS (I think it's v.04)? I was having this problem, and I posted the fix somewhere here. Basically, you remove the battery, hold down the power button for 30 seconds to clear the capacitors, replace the battery, and update the BIOS. I did this and have been fine since.

While you only have 22 posts to your name right now I fiqured someone might benifit from that post you posted "somewhere". I would assume this is the post you were referring to?

Poke around and you'll see that I and others with the dv9000 are having the same issues. I contacted HP and they had me do the same thing. They also had me install the latest BIOS update. For the Intel dv9000 models, that's .04. However, last I checked it hadn't made it to the HTTP site yet ... it was just on the FTP link the HP tech gave me. All that to say, the problem seems solved for me. I asked what taking the battery out and unplugging the system and holding down the power button accomplished: apparently it drains capacitors that still hold electricity. I don't know if this is supposed to cure the problem completely, or just at each instance, but like I said doing this and updating the BIOS seems to have cured it for me. Also, if it continues, simply removing and reinstalling the battery seemed to work for me as well.
