Re: is truelife worth it?
nobody can answer these questions but you. the question is, "is it worth it to you to pay 120 more for the unltrasharp/higher res LCD?" same goes for the other stuff. we don't know what you consider "useless".

Re: is truelife worth it?
It just depends. I have the WXGA matte and it sucks. It doesn't display the correct colors and everything is too dark or too bright. I think too I have a f**ked up screen. Oh well. Just my two cents.
Edit: Man, I need to stop drinking at night. Lol.

never seen a malette screen ;)
if you like glossy photo prints get the truelife, if you prefer matte prints, get the matte. I like matte, but have the trulife on my m1210, and its ok. If i could choose, I would get matte

Re: is truelife worth it?
the 120 bucks isnt just for the coating, its an ultra high resolution display, the coating is only 20 bucks, the rest of the money goes to a much better screen, and in my opinion is worth it, and like you, when I first checked out glossy screens, I didnt like them at all, though you can only get high res screens with the glossy option in dells inspiron line, so I got the glossy screen for the high res option and after a month or so of using the glossy screen, I really dig it now, and would pick that option again if I had the choice between gossy and matte, the extra screen real estate you'll get with uxga is more than worth the 120 bucks in my opinion

wxga+ = 1440x900 pixels
wuxga = 1920x1200 pixels

yeah... the glossy screen is worth it. Not because of gloss, but because of higher resolution.

Re: is truelife worth it?
depends on how picky you are. WUXGA is definitely a much better screen. WXGA+ will not do justice to this laptop, but it's your pick.
