BIOS Upgrade

Question:
BIOS Upgrade
Does anyone know how to upgrade the BIOS on an IBM thinkpad 770 Z without the battery being charged. My Battery is stone dead, and will not take a charge. I bought an upgrade to Windows XP Home, (have windows 98 now) and it won't finish the upgrade without upgrading the BIOS, and the BIOS cannot be upgraded without a fully charged battery, and a battery is expensive. So if there is another way, i'd like to knowwhat it is,
Thanks.......
Vic.

Re: BIOS Upgrade
Does it actually say you need a fully charged battery to upgrade the BIOS? or does it just warn you that without the battery, the BIOS may get scrambled if the power fails? Usually you can run BIOS updates with the battery removed, but I'm not familiar with that particular thinkpad, as it predates my experience with the brand.
However if memory serves there SHOULD be a /u command line switch to override all the safeties.
Try running it as (whatever).exe /u
Also- This forum seems interesting. I'm researching this as we speak...
