Acer 5562 freezes (5560 and 5670 series)
Hey guys,
About a month ago I sent my battery to be replaced and am working for now with just the AC plugged on. Ever since, I've been experiencing cpu freezes where the keyboard and mouse would stop function for 2 seconds and then come back again.
The problem is present *BOTH* in Linux and in Windows XP Home so I know for a fact that it has got to be some sort of a hardware problem.
In Linux I'm seeing these logs as well:

I was just wondering if this symptom happened to anyone or if someone could try replicating this by taking out the battery and working with the AC plugged in alone.

Could this be the keyboard halt bug that was common with the early 5562? Check your KBC version?

Thank you for this reply, I never knew of any keyboard bug and I really appreciate your
reply which got my attention. I guess it could be it, how do I check my keyboard version?
(Are we talking about the drivers? cause this happens both in windows and linux and it only start about 4 months from when I bought the laptop).

did you check if you have the latest firmware? it maybe some bugs in the firmware...
by the way, reading the logs you posted, doesn't seem to be a keyboard problem, but more an ACPI problem...

I'm not sure if it's a keyboard problem or acpi (cpu throttling) problem but I did find other guys talking about the exact same problem on a forum, check it out:

My BIOS version is 1.11 I think or something like that and I think the newer is 1.17, I know for sure that there's a bios update firmware available but I'm not going to do it myself since I'm afraid I'll just kill the laptop (and currently I'm not even sure it'll fix the problem).
The problem is something that acer is well aware of, and I dont know what to do about it now...

Ok let me stand corrected (I hope for my sake):
"To solve your problem, first, check in your BIOS, the version for "KBC". Those having problems, you should be V01.27 and below. U need an upgrade to v01.28. Its a new patch that comes recently. So... go down to Acer to do the patching, cos they did not put on their website for downloading(they say its a sensitive issue, Ha!)."
So I might try this when I get back home and see if it works.
