Question:
Are 6231's in stock ANYWHERE today???
I think I would like to order a 6231, but Portable One says that it will be the end of the month (or so) before I can get a "custom configured" 6231. I just want the Super Multi Drive and single 512MB (or 2-256's would be ok). Cost with 3 year warranty is about $2,000 shipped.
Newegg has a 6220 "Fujitsu Notebook LifeBook S6220 Pentium M 735, 13.3" XGA TFT, 512MB, 60GB, DVD Super Multi, WinXP Professional" for about $1,879 shipped.
My understanding is that the S6220 does not have the newest venting, and that the Super Multi drive burns DVD's at 4X instead of 8X, and those are the main differences. Is this correct, and how much difference would the venting make??
Does anyone reputable other than Portable One (and Fujitsu themselves) sell and stock the S6231's???
If so, could you point me to them????
What would be your advice???
It would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Andrew

Answer:
The end of the month is only 7 working days, not too bad. P1 is the place to buy from, feel free to call Ivan if you want to discuss their delivery expectations.
As for the changes, yes, the venting is the primary update. Is it worthwhile? I'd wait for it, your lap will thank you.

Answer:
The 6231 has a Dothan processor and a new intel a/b/g card.
Answer:
As the sun sets, I seem to be "focusing in" on the T4000 Convertible Tablet.
I know P1 does carry this.

Answer:
I have heard that and read that a lot, but it is surprising, only that P1's Reseller Ratings are not more stellar.
Comments???

Answer:
Yeah, you are right.
I guess I visualized myself with a tablet pc flat on a table in front of me, not cradled in my arms.
If the latter, then, yes, it might be too heavy, and I might have to reconsider the Motion M1400, or go back to just the Fujitsu S6231.
Damn, almost there, yet almost nowhere.

Answer:
Since you actually got the chance to have a look at the P7000 (I cannot seem to find any retailer anywhere close to me [:(]) Do you think that the 10.6" is way too small and annoying for extensive word processing and reading PDF documents. Since the weight and size of the P7000 is a charm when I have to go do work in the library but I am worried that hours of work on such a small screen might be too annoying. I currently use a 15" and find it larger than is necessary!
Thanx for the feedback
Answer:
I love hte 10.6". If you're asking questions about it though, it's probably not a good fit for you. You really have to want to go small to have this unit and be okay with paying a premium for it. I'd suggest the S6231 instead.
As for P1, almost everyone I know and the people here have enjoyed working with them. If you choose to go elsewhere let us know how your experience goes.
