Hard drive noise and mouse

Question:
Hard drive noise and mouse
This was actually really funny whne I realized this a litte while ago. My hard drive is pretty loud. However, I noticed whenever I hit the left mouse button on my external mouse that the hd noise would immediately stop and once I let go of the mouse button the hard drive immediately starts again.
Any ideas?

Re: Hard drive noise and mouse
Well I know that the western digital notebook drives are well known for clicking noises (I had one) and aparently they had issues with the power save settings in XP. I was not able to resolve the issue as the firmware was newer than what western digital has on their site and sold it just because of the noise. It was 5400 RPM. Does the noise sound like feed back buzzing? You both have the same model laptop which points to a somewhat specific configuration.
I have the Seagate 100GB on my E1705 and it's a strange animal. Getting used to it. It sounds like the old SCSI 18GB drives used in unix workstations only on a smaller scale lower noise of course.

I saw the aforementioned link but my problem seems a little different. I just noticed that when I plug in my power adapter, whether my E1705 is on or off, I hear a whine. When I unplug it the whine slowly dies out. Do I have a problem with the power adapter or the battery or what? HHHHEEEELLLLPPPP

Is the wall power outlet grounded and are you using a surge protector?
