fixing damaged headphone jack notebook

Question:
fixing damaged headphone jack notebook
I'm almost positive my headphone jack is busted, and I also am almost positive I know exactly when it happened. I started having problems after an incident when I forgot I had my headphones on, stood up, and yanked on the headphones pretty hard. Since then I can't really hear anything out of the left side of my headphones unless I bend the crap out of the male end of the headphones. I have an Inspiron 600m. Is there any way I can replace the jack without a) ripping up spot solders, or b) sending it back to Dell and dropping a ton of cash to have them fix it?
ps - my microphone is simply not working, but I believe it stopped working a while ago, so I suspect it's just the mic itself, but could this be related? i.e. is it possible that my soundcard is damaged, but no warning signs show up in D/M?

Re: fixing damaged headphone jack notebook
Well…. If you are familiar with repairing this kind of things and if you are confident enough to take apart your notebook, then you can always try. Otherwise you can get a USB / pcmcia sound card ( USB will be chaper) or a pair of USB headphones/speakers
