Question:
8204 and New BIOS, BLUE Screen
Anyone tried to install the new 8204 bios from ACER ftp site?
I always did the BIOS upgrade, but for some reason, when I tried to upgrade to last one (that has some issues solved for VISTA), I got the blue screen.
I am using the software on XP SP2. The software can read the old bios, save the backup, but when he starts to try to flash the bios , *&^%$ , blue screen.
I tried 2 times only, and I am not confident to try again, and go to the situation when I need to send to ACER.

If you're talking about 3517, the BIOS isn't for the 8204's. I'm pretty sure it's for the new 8210's. If you look at the release history in the 3517's, you'll notice the version histories don't match up with the ones listed in the 3319 histories. I tried and it BSODed on me too.

I upgraded to the new 3517 bios a few days ago on my 8204. You can't use winphlash or it bombs. You have to upgrade via DOS phlash16.

Did you boot on Windows in DOS mode to use phlash16 ?:confused:

no , i made a boot cd with nero. then reset my boot order in bios. then booted into dos, changed to the right network directory where i had my files and ran
PHLASH16 ZC1_3517.WPH /mode=3 /x
