dv2000t and 3dMark06

Question:
dv2000t and 3dMark06
I'm getting a score of 644 in 3DMark06 on my dv2000t with the Go 7200 in it. Should it be that pathetic? It's a Core Duo T2400 1.83Ghz CPU with 1 gig of memory.

Yes...the 7200 is by no means a powerful card. The processor and RAM really will not affect the numbers that much...the GPU core matters much more than anything else.

Re: dv2000t and 3dMark06
OK, so I take it there are no settings in my graphic card drivers that I can tweak to get better frame rates? 1 FPS or less was a joke. Looks like I'll be selling this notebook to a family member within the next year since a lot more of the newer notebooks have better GPUs. Either that or stick with 3-5 year old games.

Re: dv2000t and 3dMark06
The 7200 is basically on the level as the integrated cards, which means 3-5 year old games are fine. Newer and you might be toast.
It's only a bench and all that matters is if it plays the games you want it to at a decent fps rate and quality.
FYI, the GPU Guide has some good info on video cards.

I suppose I'll use the notebook for some older classics and the desktop for the latest/greatest. Thanks for the link to the guide. I'll be more diligent next time around if/when I ever decide I need a gaming notebook more than just a backup, more portable PC.

Don't worry about it; I got burned by the GMA900 from Intel about a year ago. No one told me it was crappier (probably the 2nd worst GPU out there).
If anything, you have a laptop with (probably) a great battery life. Keep the gaming to the desktop as long as it is practical for you.

Well, I wouldn't say the battery life is all that great either. If I get 2 hours I'm lucky. Anyone know if bluetooth sucks the life out of a battery?
4cfed4 - thanks for running a test on your system and confirming the low score.

Re: dv2000t and 3dMark06
You can disable Bluetooth easier using the HP wireless assistant. I ran 3dMark tests the day before you posted up here. I also ran 3DMark05 and obtained a 1505.
