what does recover xp to entire hd mean? does it mean wipe?? Recover to entire HD will wipe the disc and replace it with the stock setup. If you have partitions, you can chose to install only to the first and save the data on the others.

Re: Help With Reformat
i have another couple questions
a. does it do the same thing that a regular xp disc would do ( kill partition create new one istall windows freshly?)
b. what are stock files?
thanks for your help
Cole If you use the recovery partition on the HD, it destroys anything on the partition (if you select only partition) or the entire disc (if you select that option). It then leaves you with XP + any included programs and all the drivers you had when the computer arrived as new. If you use the recovery discs, you can either do the same thing or when told to insert the driver CD (the 3rd CD in the process) merely restart the computer and you'll be left with a completely fresh install of XP. Some stock files (on my W3J at least) include Norton, Nero, all drivers and the bluetooth stack and all of the Asus programs.
