Question:
Presario V3000 Hardware Profile Software !
Hi, I recently managed to get my self a lapie, since i'm after the specification rather than accessories and all stuff, I got the one without OS in purchase.
All the drivers and instalation was run smoothly, but I cant get the software that can support the lapie it self. It lack hardware profile software, I need it so I can configure detailed setting on each hardware (screen brightness, proc speed, etc) when I'm on battery or AC power. I have search on all available download on hp.com, but I still can find the similliar software.
So, is there any valid application that I discribe above for HP notebook ?? anyone please point me where I can download the software ?

Generally, HP do not send laptops without OS as the OEM versions are locked to the BIOS of the machines...
yet, you can use RMClock or NotebookHardwareControl for your purposes. I cannot help with screen brightness, though. As far as I know, the brightness can change only when the comptuer goes from AC power to battery

you can go here to get the
the AMD cpu driver automatically adjusts the speed, but you may be
able to get software from AMD to allow control the speed
they keyboard keys can adjust screen brightness
other than that you need to find some freeware or shareware

HP systems do not include such Power management software, the windows default settings manage the hardware power management fetures. The screen should automatically dim when on battery, there are buttons on the top row of the keyboard(F1 - F12) which control various media, sleep, shortcut buttons, LCD brightness control which are all controlled by Quicklaunch software which you can download from HPs support site. The only other unique software that HP includes is Quickplay which is only available in some systems.

By default(I guess), the brightness is set to the lowest when you are on battery, and it will turn back wherever you were when AC plugged in. The XP power management is sucks, it rather stable your clock than does the performance on demand. Meaning, it tends to give you very few choice(3?) of your CPU clock. That's why people like to use RMClock things to DIY their performance profile, and it works both Intel and AMD.
You won't have much to do with your GPU, the ondemand GPU controller software is hard to find. But Nvidia Go7200 and up do support smart dimming.

I notice in Display Properties that HP assign PlugnPlay monitor driver, is there any driver for the LCD monitor ? it would give me a peace on mind if the drivers says Samsung (i've got SEC one)or something. I've look one vaio ones and it says SONY...

HP does not offer any monitor driver and really there is no need for any specific driver other than the one for your video card.

BTW, I see in you guys sig, that you have similliar version with my lapie, but in AMD platform ?? How about performace compare to the core duo version ?
I've got WDC for harddrive, SONY for DVD-RW, mem 512 with hynix chipset.
What do you guys got ?
I just break my tradition by buying this lapie, I never use intel platform before. the reson i'm buying the intel platform is because the popularity ( at least the price doesnot drop too much when I intend to sell it)
