bios pass reset

Question:
bios pass reset
Hi,
I have fujitsu s6200 lifebook. At the time I bought it I was playing around bios and now I can not enter bios, because I forgot the password I set 6 mos ago :(
I wrote to customer support, but no respone so far. Any ideas how to reset it ?
I can boot the computer, its working perfect, but I need to change some things in bios, which I can not enter :(
Answer: There's a procedure to reset that, I just don't know what it is for Fujitsu off hand. Call support, that's faster and easier.

Answer: Customer support told me, that the only way to reset the password is to send them the notebook and they will do it. The price is 150$ for that :(
Answer: There's a way to do it...resetting a jumper or something. I've just never looked into in detail. You can either forget about it or find an alternative solution. I wouldn't pay $150 for that.

Answer: I use the same password for bios and win logins for my computers. It's simple and has some meaning to my childhood so I can remember. While not a complex random series of numbers and letters, it's enough to keep inquisitives away from my stuff.
Try to go back in time and remember the password you may have used.

Answer: I'm afraid he may have to pay the $150 if he cannot guess/remember the password, he will probably have to show proof of purchase as well. The days of just shorting a couple of pins or removing the CMOS battery are long gone from notebooks. Due the the high theft rate, most manufacturers have increased the security of such thing to deter theft and reduce the market for notebooks that are basically useless to the thief if the security features have been turned on.

Answer: ok - not cool.
I was was checking out the BIOS on my S6220 for the first time a few days ago, and now it's asking for a password to re-enter. One slight problem - i did not set a BIOS password at any time. WTF do i do now? I gotta pay $150???? No freaking way.

Answer: You might be able to talk support out of it, but BIOS passwords don't set themselves.

Answer: well i am 100% positive i did not enter a password and i'm the only user of the laptop, so it's either a BIOS bug or i am infected with something that changed the BIOS settings (scary).

Answer: almazlamaz,
You say it boots fine, does that mean you can get to windows and the bios password only stops you from changing bios settings? If that is the case, I think there are programs you can run in windows that can retrieve your bios password (it's stored on a separate chip, I can't remember the name off hand). Also, if you can boot, you could boot to a knoppix distro (a version of Linux that runs off a cd) and run a bios password retrieval program that way.
But if it's asking you for a password to boot I'm pretty sure your only options are to either send it in or reflash the chip that has the password.
