hey eevryone, i just finished reformatting my friends toshiba lapto computer. its a satellite A15 (glad i didnt buy one off ebay) and theres no sound. theres also a bunch of harware thats not installed. like when you go into deviced manager or something where it lists al of the hardware currently installed, theres a lot that have a yellow question mark beside it. and he doesnt have any of the cds that originially came with it. how can i install the missing hardware, and also get the sound back? tia

Just go to the toshiba website and download all the drivers and install then.

hey thx for the advice. i managed to install some of them. but i cant seem to find these ones: "base system device", "ethernet controller", and "PCI modem". are these essential things that i need to have installed? cuz it seems to work fine right now.

The Base System Device is the Chipset for the notebook. You need to download the chipset drivers and install them. This is a vital device since it controls most of the main components (HDD, Memory, etc... and how they interact with the CPU). The Ethernet Controller is what you will need to connect to a network or even the internet (if not connected wirelessly). The PCI modem is the modem of course. This allows you to connect to the internet via dial-up or even to fax documents (via fax software).
